Recap: A Different Way to Assess
April 18, 2017
Recap is an assessment tool geared more towards younger learners. As I was reviewing it for this week's Tech Tip Tuesday, it made me nostalgic for my Kindergarten days. This would have been perfect to get my little learners to talk about a book we had just read or explain how to solve a problem! So, what is Recap you ask? It is a FREE (yes ma'am FREE) online assessment tool where teachers present a question and students record short videos of themselves answering the question(s). Teachers have the option of creating multiple classes, multiple question sets per assignment, and multiple assignments with customization options (i.e. specific due dates). There is also a self-assessment option so that students can watch their responses and "grade" themselves on how well they answered. As the teacher watches the student responses, he/she can sort which students "Got It" as well as those that may need to revisit the content assessed. The really cool thing is that student responses can be shared with other students in the class, and they can be accessed at any time! Here are two really good tutorial videos to get you started with Recap. |

Personalizing Google Drive
April 4, 2017
I came across this on Facebook over the weekend and it is pure fabulousness (yes I made that up). I love, love, love Google Drive, the portability, the storage, the user-friendliness of it. However, I have always hated how drab the colors are and how hard it is to find the right folder (if you are like me and have about a million different folders in your weak attempt to organize yourself). Enter this little gem from Ladybug Teacher Files. She walks you thru how to colorize, number, and even add emojis and other characters to your folders to make them easier to locate and organize. I hope you enjoy! |
